Event Description:

Diverse Literacies: The Language Teachers Need to Know for Today’s Classroom
Our classrooms are complex places. Teachers need tools to enhance their practice in order to create high quality, engaging experiences for all learners.

Our DIVERSE LITERACIES series provides participants with access to expert practitioners who will share strategies and insights to enliven and enhance professional practice in a collaborative environment focused on teaching and learning.

Workshop 4: Becoming a Teacher of Writing
Writing teachers teach from their writing selves. This interactive, experiential workshop will give each participant the opportunity to write, speak the language of writing and discover ways to write alongside students as the "more expert other" in the classroom. This workshop is appropriate for both new and veteran writing teachers, those who love to write and those who wish to cultivate a writing life of their own.
Target Audience: P-16 educators
Presenter: Amy VanDerwater, Writer and Poet
